Dear Chisholm Friends,
What a year for us all!
I’m so proud to be the representative for the people of Chisholm under the leadership of our Prime Minister. The Turnbull Government has kept its promise of being a government of “Delivery”. Already in this 45th parliament we have achieved the passing 48 bills, including the ABCC and Registered Organisations bills which triggered the double dissolution election, delivering $21 billion in budget repair, securing our borders, protecting volunteers, focusing on delivering our pro growth agenda, creating investment strategies, and creating jobs for Australians.
As reported in previous newsletters, the immediate post election period, and the ensuing Bank Inquiry with my role on the House Economics Committee made for a busy time both in Canberra and Chisholm.
At a local Chisholm level our Delivery platform continues.
My wonderful staff members have worked so hard since the Election to get our office up and running in our temporary location, including setting up systems, and creating databases, responding to the hundreds of emails and phonecalls we receive from constituents every day, sending handwritten milestone anniversary and birthday cards to constituents, organising attendance at formal and informal functions and events both large and small, awarding graduation certificates to thousands of kinder, primary and secondary school students and coordinating my participation in a number of TV and other media interviews – to name a few!
All this… whilst coordinating the build and set up of our new office location which I’m delighted to announce we will be moving into in January. You may have seen from the very visible signage that went up just this weekend that the location is 140 Burwood Highway, Burwood.
With so much going on and because “a picture says a thousand words”, I’ve attached a pictorial summary of the Chisholm year.\
The new year will kick off officially with one of my favourite things to do on one of my favourite days of the year – a Citizenship Ceremony on Australia Day. A day where Australians have the freedom to celebrate in their own unique way everything that is great about Australia – the most successful multicultural nation on earth. This will be followed by our “back to school program” and events, and Chinese New Year celebrations, mobile listening posts and other community events on top of fellowship events for friends of Chisholm. So stay tuned!
I love Christmas and all associated with it and especially that it’s a time which manifests love in us all. A time with family, friends and loved ones and a time of reflection.
I wish you and your families and friends a very happy Christmas and a new year filled with happiness, good health, great friendships and wonderful times.
