Ms Julia Banks MP, Federal Member for Chisholm was honoured to host the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Julie Bishop MP at Avila College, Mount Waverley for a ‘Women in Leadership’ Special Assembly for senior students this morning.
The Foreign Minister and Ms Banks were particularly pleased to visit Avila College, a leading Catholic girls’ school of over 1000 students.
Ms Banks and the Foreign Minister shared their experiences in various leadership roles in business and politics, with a particular focus on their roles as members of the Turnbull Government.
During the forum, Ms Banks and the Foreign Minister engaged in a question and answer session with senior students, as well as delivering addresses to the assembly.
Ms Banks’ ongoing commitment for supporting and mentoring young women and girls was evident in her keynote address to the Avila College students where she focused on the importance of aspiration and having courage and confidence when striving to reach one’s full potential.
“The students at Avila College represent a diverse, engaged and insightful group of young Australians and it was an outstanding morning.” Ms Banks said.
“It was a great honour to be joined by the Foreign Minister and have such a wonderful opportunity to speak with students from Avila College who are the future female leaders of our nation”. Ms Banks said.
