● Waverley District Netball Association courts’ $1.102 million upgrade officially opened
● The new lights and fencing have made netball courts safer
● More than 4,000 netball players use the courts each weekend
Netball players from across Chisholm today celebrated the official opening of the Waverley District Netball Association’s $1.102 million upgrade to their home in Ashwood.
“This wonderful upgrade has given the more than 4,000 players a safer place to play and train for netball, particularly at night, and will help encourage healthy lifestyles in our community,” Ms Banks said.
Ms Banks also said the upgrade will improve the standard of netball facilities available to Chisholm residents.
“Following the upgrade, the twelve netball courts now meet Australian Netball standards, and also meet the Regional Facility requirements of Netball Victoria,” Ms Banks said.
“This extensive upgrade has seen drainage improved, acrylic surfacing and padded goal sets installed at the twelve courts, the construction of fencing, and the installation of two shelters.”
“I am absolutely thrilled to see my election commitment realised, and know that these essential upgrades will encourage local girls and women to participate in the competition.” Ms Banks said.
The upgrades were jointly funded by the Turnbull Government ($890,000), the Waverley District Netball Association ($192,621) and the Bendigo Bank ($20,000).
