Julia Banks is the Federal Member for Chisholm.
Julia is a member of the Liberal Party of Australia and was elected in the 2016 Federal Election to be a Member of the House of Representatives under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull MP.
Julia was born and raised in Melbourne to parents of Greek immigrant heritage
Prior to entering Parliament, Julia graduated from Monash University with degrees in Arts and Law and has worked in the business and corporate world for over 25 years beginning her career as a lawyer in private legal practice. Julia’s extensive business and leadership experience includes various Executive Director and General Counsel roles in legal, corporate affairs and media, risk and crisis management.
Throughout her career Julia has always involved in supporting community work for a number of charities and not for profit organisations.
Julia has always been and continues to be a strong advocate for equality for women and for people of different cultural heritage.
Julia and her husband Mike have raised two children now both young adults who are university students in Melbourne.
As a working mum, Julia knows first-hand the challenges of balancing home, family , work and community life.
